ALBUM TITLE & STUDIO BLOG
'Under A New Sun' has been named as the title for the up-coming album from The Eternal set to see the light of day in 2010. The album will be the follow up to the acclaimed 'Kartika' & also the bands fourth full length album. We can also reveal that song titles include: 'Control', 'Under A New Sun', 'A Thousand Shades of You', 'Collapse' & 'Cast In Stone' to name a few.
The band have also launched a studio blog which can be viewed at:
http://www.the-eternal-studio.blogspot.com
The band enter 301 Studios in Byron Bay on December 4th. The blog will be updated daily throughout December with pictures and the latest news on the recording process, so be sure to check it out.
'Under A New Sun' will be produced by Jeff Martin (The Tea Party). Jeff adds this about the album; ‘I proudly re-introduce The Eternal... The type of band I've been waiting to produce. It's been a year now since Mark and I agreed to embark on a journey that begins this December. For The Eternal this will not be a stepping stone but a launch pad. For me, a creative working relationship that allows me to realise an artist's vision and re-connect with past influences, all the while looking into the future...darkly. I envision an alchemical marriage, a musical landscape anchored by organic rock and roll and infested with industrial overtones. To put things lightly, you're not playing with kids here. The Eternal are the real deal.’
The album will be co-engineered by Paul Pilsneniks who has worked with such artists as The Living End, The Mars Volta, Silverchair, Grinspoon & Alanis Morissette, and The Eternal has also enlisted acclaimed Finnish keyboard player Maria Ilmoniemi (Tarja / Husky Rescue) to contribute.

04.11.09 THE ETERNAL WORK WITH JEFF MARTIN ON NEW ALBUM
Fresh from their 2009 world tour across Australia, Japan Europe, America, Canada and Mexico in support of their album ‘Kartika’, Melbourne’s dark rockers The Eternal will be entering 301 Studios Byron Bay on December 4th with acclaimed producer and multi-platinum recording artist Jeff Martin (The Armada / The Tea Party) to record their fourth album.
Having returned from the tour with the band’s strongest line up to date, Guitarist/Vocalist Mark Kelson states that the new album has a clear vision that will evolve The Eternal’s sound to a new level with the collaboration of producer Jeff Martin. 'We are really excited about this opportunity to work with Jeff Martin who has been a big influence on me over the years and I can’t think of any one better to bring the best out of us & our sound. This is truly a highlight for me as far as The Eternal is concerned.' he said.
Jeff Martin adds ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly re-introduce The Eternal...
The yet to be titled album will see the light of day in 2010. So check our website for regular updates. More information very soon.

28.10.09

Talented Finnish keyboard player Maria Ilmoniemi who we met on our recent tour in the USA (She was in Tarja's band) is now at her studio in Helsinki, Finland, tracking keyboards for our new album. Maria has almost completed her masters degree in music & has an amazing range of digital & analogue keyboards, so we are very lucky to have her onboard.
Due to distance, its hard to make Maria a full time member of The Eternal, so she will be the invisible 4th member on this record and also the first female in what has very much been a boys club up until now. We are very excited to be working with her and we are sure the results will be fantastic. More information on the new album coming very soon!

17.10.09
The Eternal have been nominated as finalists at the Australian Metal Awards for best keyboard player (Chris Stevenson) for 'Kartika'. Mark and Chris will both be at the awards held at The Forum in Sydney, 7th November. Should be a great night!

We will be entering 301 Studio's in Byron Bay, Australia, to record our upcoming album on December 3rd. We are very excited to give you some more news on this in the next few weeks, something special is coming your way!

CHRIS STEVENSON LEAVES THE ETERNAL
We are very sad to announce that after much contemplation Chris has decided to leave the band. Chris was the founding member with Mark back in 2003 and after 5 fantastic years he has decided to move on. We wish him the best, we all remain great friends and we will not rule out that if Chris wishes to return in the future he may. We will continue as a 4 piece and will not be looking for a replacement at this point. A statement from Chris:
Hi all,
No good can come from these statements and this one is no exception. I am saddened to announce that I have made the decision to depart The Eternal, a decision that was not easy to make and was a long time coming.
The Eternal was basically my life for a good 5 years and I loved every single moment of it! It was also an extremely gruelling experience, which at times took its toll on me on a personal level. I gotta say it is hard work for everyone involved - not just me, but I am pretty damn good at stressing out all the time! So I guess what I am trying to say is that while my heart wanted me to go on, my head needed a rest! Right from the start the band meant the world to me and still does. If anyone told me 7 years ago that I would help record 3 albums and do 2 European tours, I’d be convinced they were from another planet!
I need to thank a lot of people but for the sake of keeping you all reading I will restrict it to being band related. First and foremost is Mark who I have known for more than half of my life and is like a brother with or without a band. I thank him for seeing something in me even when I was playing around with a Casio keyboard and a horrible beaten up guitar in my room and for giving me the most awesome opportunity to prove things to myself that I never thought possible. To James Hunt, Marty, Terry and Linc I am thankful for having the chance to share music, the stage and ultimately your friendships, it’s been and always will be an immense pleasure! The rest of the former members I thank for their time and talent in helping make The Eternal the great thing it is today. To everyone from promoters, to support bands, engineers blah blah blah thanks, every step has been a memorable experience! All my friends and family who have stuck by this odd little man with mad ideas over all the years. And lastly but in no way least, to the fans, I’ll still be going to the gigs and all so don’t be afraid to come and say “hello”, I’m always willing to talk about all things “The Eternal”.
I am so proud of what the band has achieved in my time and will continue to watch as an avid fan and help out in any way I can. Make no mistake that the band will continue on and continue to grow, so everyone stay on board for the ride! - Chris
